Terms and conditions
- 20% of the total payment must be made before work commences. This is to ensure I don't spend valuable time working on a text only to have the owner disappear into cyberspace, never to be heard from again.
- Where applicable, quotes are a guide only. A firm price will be given upon evaluation of complete text.
- Each editor has their own style. When editing work, one consistent style will be used. If you have a particular style preference, please advise prior to commencement of work.
- Australian English will be used.
- Confidentiality is of prime concern. In some cases, however, it may be breached (intercepted mail, computer hacking, etc). Should this happen, I will not be held liable.
- I update my anti-virus software daily. However, I will not be held responsible should I inadvertently pass on a virus.
- I will not be held liable for online theft or fraud.
- It is the client's responsibility to ensure all dates, facts, figures, tables, graphs, etc are correct.
- It is the client's responsibility to ensure text does not infringe on copyright.
- It is the client's responsibility to ascertain the correct spelling of names, unusual or foreign words, etc.
- It is the client's responsibility to check work as soon as it is returned.
- Retain the original text - send copy only.
- When sending text, please specify which service you require.
- While every effort will be made to adhere to deadlines, events may occur meaning these deadlines are not met.
- It is the client's responsibility to clearly explain all requirements. I will not be held responsible for errors or omissions due to a lack of communication.
- I will not be held responsible for delays or losses due to events beyond my control (problems with Australia Post or other delivery services, incorrect return details, power cuts, etc).
- I will keep copies of electronically edited work for 14 days. Should you lose or delete your proofread/edited text, contact me within that time period and I will be happy to resend it to you.
- Work will be returned in electronic format, either by email, disk, or USB (if provided). Printing will be the responsibility of the client.
- Any additional costs incurred (phone calls, travel, postage, courier, etc) will be paid for by the client prior to work being returned.
- I will not be held responsible for the outcome relating to any text.
- I may terminate a project for any reason at any time.
- I reserve the right to reject any work.
- Payment can be made via PayPal, bank deposit, Australia Post money order, or cheque. Work will not commence until funds have cleared.
- Please ensure you submit accurate payment. If an overpayment is made, the cost to me (if any) of providing the refund will be deducted from the total amount of overpayment.
- Any issues will be dealt with in a fair and prompt manner. My decision will be final and no further claims will be sought.
- I will not be held liable for damages of any kind.
- By submitting text to me, it is understood you have read, understand, and agree to all of the terms and conditions.
